Strong educational leadership is vital in the pursuit of excellence in the Early Childhood (EC) sector, focussing in particular on the quality of the interactions and relationships children experience in ECEC settings. With the work that we do, we seek to support and empower our leaders to embody practice excellence in the centres. I believe that our leaders are indispensable in managing ever-changing environments in the centres as well as guiding and supporting teachers in their day-to-day work with the children.

Educational leadership to me, is about strengthening the curriculum and pedagogical leadership competencies of leaders and creating a synergy among leaders within centres across NFC networks. Nurturing the leadership dispositions of leaders to cultivate the right attributes are as important as equipping them with specific curriculum leadership knowledge and skills. Thus, in our design of the ECEL leadership program, we look at the “being” as well as the “doing” to flourish the leaders.
