Abstract:

Building leadership capacity in Singapore's early childhood sector is crucial due to national initiatives aimed at improving care and education standards. The Early Childhood Education Leadership (ECEL) certificate program enhances leadership skills and knowledge application. Recognising the need for continuous learning, a Professional Learning Community (PLC) was established to deepen understanding, strengthen workplace application, and amplify leadership impact. This pilot study evaluates the PLC's sustainability, acceptability, and scalability. Key success factors include shared leadership, collective learning, and supportive conditions. Recommendations for future PLC development focus on engaging 'leaders of leaders,' examining applied practices, nurturing personal relationships, and supportive structures to allow for the PLC to thrive.
