Abstract:

In 2020, NTUC First Campus (NFC) introduced the Early Childhood Education Leadership (ECEL) program. The ECEL program focuses on developing leaders in Early Childhood Education (ECE) and represents NFC’s continued commitment to maintaining high-quality early childhood programs. This study evaluates the effectiveness and sustainability of the ECEL program in fostering leadership practices within the early childhood education context. The data, obtained through program surveys and focus group discussions, were triangulated to provide a comprehensive analysis. The findings indicate that the ECEL program has been successful in various aspects, including enhancing curriculum and pedagogical practices and improving teaching quality in preschools. The study also identified factors that either enabled or hindered the performance of ECEL participants as leaders. These findings help to inform the sustainability of the ECEL programme and provide recommendations for its future refinement.
