Abstract:

NFC aims to become a leading example of a Sustainable Early Childhood organisation by 2025, encouraging staff, children, and their families to champion sustainability. A pilot study involving 19 children was implemented using an instrument - Children’s Knowledge and Attitudes towards Environmental Sustainability (CESS) to gauge children’s sustainability awareness at the end of Kindergarten 1 and 2. Findings showed all participants could comprehend and respond to the CESS instrument, with Kindergarten 2 children showing greater sustainability awareness. These results will aid in developing and executing curriculum focused on environmental sustainability education.
