A Curriculum That Puts Your Child First

Every child is unique, with their own strengths, interests, and potential. Our thoughtfully curated curriculum nurtures every aspect of your child’s development, creating a strong foundation for lifelong learning and success.

A Research-Backed and Systemic Approach to Curriculum Development

At NTUC First Campus, we are committed to continuously refining our curriculum to provide the best learning experiences for children. Both My First Skool and Little Skool-House benefit from a dedicated team of education development specialists, researchers, and educators who work together to ensure our curriculum and teaching practices support every child’s growth and success. Our curriculum undergoes a regular review cycle to ensure it remains relevant, effective, and aligned with the evolving needs of children and families.

Different in Approach, Aligned in Purpose

At NTUC First Campus, our curriculum is built on key pillars that form the foundation of every child’s learning journey. While these guiding principles remain consistent, each of our preschool brands brings them to life through unique approaches tailored to their distinct educational philosophies. This ensures that every child experiences meaningful, engaging, and purposeful learning in an environment that best supports their growth and development.

Our Approach to Curriculum, by Age

We Prioritise Relationships First. Because Every Child Learns Best When They Feel Secure

Our research  (Ebbeck & Yim, 2009; Ebbeck et al, 2014) shows that secure relationships between children and educators lead to better learning outcomes. Anchored in research of a relationships-based approach, our early years curriculum (from Infant Care to Nursery 1) supports educators at My First Skool and Little Skool-House in creating a nurturing, supportive environment where children feel safe, valued, and understood. This sense of security encourages natural exploration and learning.

Next, we focus on the development milestones of children by creating learning experiences

Our early years curriculum is also aligned with the latest Early Years Development Framework (EYDF), focusing on creating learning moments through meaningful routines, experiences and interactions that support children’s well-being, learning and holistic development in four key areas: Cognitive, Communication and Language, Physical and Social and Emotional. There is also a focus on establishing a consistent daily routine. All these help to develop a happy, curious and emotionally secure child.

We Prepare Them for Primary School and Life’s Next Steps

From Nursery 2 to Kindergarten 2, our children build the knowledge, confidence, and bilingual literacy they need for Primary School and beyond. With guidance from caring educators, they engage in rich storytelling, purposeful projects, and hands-on exploration, strengthening their language skills, critical thinking, communication, and empathy. Throughout this journey, they also develop the resilience and independence required to adapt to new challenges, ensuring they are well-prepared for both academic and life success.

We Integrate Purposeful Play into Learning

Play-based learning is at the heart of our curriculum, fostering holistic development through active exploration and discovery. Our preschools integrate purposeful play into their curriculum, ensuring children develop essential skills while enjoying the process of learning. Our skilled educators are trained and equipped to facilitate these purposeful play experiences, creating opportunities for communication, collaboration, and active exploration.

Spotlight on My First Skool’s PETAL

P – E – T – AL
At My First Skool, the PETAL© approach – Playing, Exploring, Thinking, and Applying Learning – transforms everyday moments into rich learning experiences. Facilitated play activities encourage critical thinking and meaningful discoveries. For example, children explore how wheel shapes affect speed and distance by rolling different wheels down ramps, then build cars with various designs to predict outcomes. These hands-on activities naturally reinforce concepts of motion and inclination while nurturing problem-solving skills.

We Develop the Whole Child through our Curriculum

Rooted in research and aligned with the latest Nurturing Early Learners (NEL) Framework, our curriculum for aged 4-6 years is designed to nurture your child’s foundational values, social and emotional competencies, and learning dispositions. These three interconnected attributes serve as the bedrock for your child’s holistic development across all learning areas and empower them for lifelong learning and to thrive in an ever-changing world.

We Integrate Learning Across Areas for Real-World Connections

At NTUC First Campus, learning happens through meaningful connections across different subjects. Our integrated approach weaves subjects or learning areas together naturally, with numeracy flowing into art and uncovering science concepts emerging through storybooks. This integration helps children understand how their learning relates to the real world around them.

Our Curriculum’s Learning Areas
