NTUC First Campus’s My First Skool at 3 Pasir Ris Drive has transformed the former Loyang Primary School into a preschool, operational since May 2023. It has a capacity for 1,100 children, including 990 childcare and 110 infant care places, with 60 classrooms across four levels and three outdoor play areas.

The redesigned space features a specially designed spiral-structured play facility tailored for preschool children. The design incorporates historical and cultural elements of Loyang, such as streams, mangroves, hills, islands, and kelongs, showcasing the area’s rich heritage. Thian Ai Ling, General Manager of My First Skool, highlighted, “We intentionally preserved the 11 Yellow Flame trees around the campus to retain the local heritage and bring children closer to nature.” The preschool encourages outdoor learning with meaningful interactions with nature.

My First Skool’s commitment to heritage preservation and innovative design earned the centre recognition as Singapore’s sole finalist in the completed schools category at the 2024 World Architecture Awards.
