Hello! I’m Geraldine, a Pedagogist
And I’m Debbie, a Curriculum Specialist
We are Curriculum Professionals at NTUC First Campus
What is a day in the life of a Pedagogist and Curriculum Specialist like?
Geraldine: Well, no two days are quite the same! My role as a Pedagogist is incredibly dynamic. I start by working closely with teachers and principals, delivering training sessions, and observing classroom lessons.
Debbie: Absolutely! As a Curriculum Specialist, my days are filled with creativity and problem-solving. I focus on designing and developing engaging curriculum materials that cater to the diverse needs of our students.
How do you two coordinate your efforts?
Geraldine: We make a fantastic team! Once Debbie has designed and developed the curriculum, I step in to provide support and guidance in its implementation. We observe lessons together, offer feedback, and provide coaching to teachers.
Debbie: Exactly! Geraldine’s expertise in pedagogy ensures that our curriculum not only meets educational standards but also fosters a stimulating learning environment for our students.
:
By observing lessons firsthand in the classrooms. Geraldine and Debbie gather valuable insights that contribute to the continuous improvement of teaching practices, fostering an engaging learning environment for the children.
What drives your passion for your work?
Geraldine: For me, it’s all about making a positive impact. Seeing teachers grow and thrive in their roles is incredibly fulfilling. I take great pride in knowing that I’ve contributed to their professional development.
Debbie: And for me, it’s the joy of shaping young minds. Every child is unique, and it’s a privilege to develop curriculum materials that cater to their individual needs and interests.
How does NFC support your well-being?
Geraldine: NFC truly values the well-being of its employees. We have fantastic initiatives like hybrid work arrangements and well-being leave, which allow me to strike a healthy work-life balance.
Debbie: Absolutely! The supportive culture at NFC ensures that we can thrive both personally and professionally. It’s reassuring to know that our well-being is a priority.
What advice would you give to aspiring educators?
Geraldine: Embrace every opportunity to learn and grow. Early childhood education is a rewarding field, but it requires dedication and passion. Surround yourself with supportive colleagues who will inspire you on your journey.
