During the year-end school holidays, many parents are signing their children up for holiday camps. Outdoor School Singapore’s camps have seen a 20 per cent rise in participation compared with its mid-year programmes. These immersive experiences, such as exploring nature, practising first-aid, and completing treasure-hunt challenges, give children valuable opportunities to assess risks, think critically, and solve problems independently through active, hands-on learning.

Mindy Teo, Chief of Commercial Business at NTUC First Campus said such camps are instrumental in nurturing independence, resilience, and strong communication and teamwork skills among children, which are essential competencies for the 21st century. Children are embracing the experiences too, with nine-year-old participant Galen Koh sharing that learning how to bandage his teammates made him feel more confident about helping others.
