Abstract:

The quality of childcare provision has come under increasing scrutiny, given the long hours that children spend in childcare settings today. In this study, researchers investigated parents’ views of a primary caregiving system in Singapore. This approach aims to foster children’s holistic growth and development by allocating one main caregiver to three or four infants within an early childhood educational setting. The findings reflect that 100% of parents were either satisfied or very satisfied with the primary caregiving system. Additionally, three major themes were identified from parents’ responses in relation to the system: meeting children’s needs, supporting safe and secure relationships, and improving home-school communication.
