Meet Malay Teacher Danish from My First Skool at 49 Rivervale Crescent, who received the Outstanding Award for Malay Language at the Outstanding Preschool Mother Tongue Language Teacher Award 2026! 🏆
For many children, learning a language starts with having more opportunities to hear, use and enjoy it. Teacher Danish brings Malay to life through songs, ukulele sing-alongs and playful strategies that spark curiosity and make learning the language something children look forward to.

"Don`t worry about speaking Tamil correctly. You will get the interest to speak in Tamil. It will be fine!" 🧡 – Teacher Nivasini from My First Skool at Blk 260 Bukit Batok, recipient of the Merit Award, Tamil Language at the 2026 Outstanding Preschool Mother Tongue Language Teacher Award! 🏆
Over the years, that belief has shaped the way she teaches, using hand puppets to bring stories to life, and playful games like Mancala (பல்லாங்குழி) to turn language learning into something her students look forward to, rather than something they worry about getting wrong. For Teacher Nivasini, it was never about perfect pronunciation or flawless grammar, it was about giving her children the confidence to speak up, try, and enjoy the process.

Meet our Chinese Teacher Zhou Shuhan, who was recently recognised with the 2026 Outstanding Preschool Mother Tongue Language Teacher Award! 🏆
Teacher Shuhan noticed something many parents worry about: without a Chinese-speaking environment at home, children can become reluctant to even try. So she brings Chinese to life through storytelling, games, and one sentence at a time, turning language learning into something children genuinely look forward to.

Learning can take root anywhere, even in our very own garden! 🌱✨
Our children from My First Skool at Blk 463 Clementi Ave 1 recently rolled up their sleeves alongside Mr David Hoe, Adviser to Jurong East–Bukit Batok GRC GROs (Clementi), to plant pomegranate, lemon and calamansi trees in their centre garden.
As children plant, water and observe how their garden changes over time, they learn that caring for their surroundings takes patience, responsibility and teamwork. More importantly, they discover that their actions, however small, can contribute to something bigger than themselves. 🌳✨
We hope these new trees will continue to grow alongside our children and community, serving as a little reminder of what can blossom when we care for the world around us.

Three generations. One Pledge. One home. 🇸🇬
This National Day, our little ones didn`t celebrate alone. Their parents and grandparents came together with them reciting the Pledge side by side, sweating through a National Day workout, and exchanging stories over classroom activities.
At My First Skool, we believe some of the most meaningful learning happens when generations come together. These intergenerational moments help our children build empathy, compassion, and stronger relational skills — lessons that go far beyond what any classroom lesson alone can teach. 😉 Happy 61st Birthday, Singapore!

This National Day, we invited a very special guest into our classroom, Mr Darren from SAF Veterans League, who spent the morning with our children at My First Skool at Blk 435B Northshore Drive. 🧡
From games, dance, and crafting their own Heart Shields to reciting a Hero Pledge together, our little ones discovered what it truly means to be a hero. As Mr Darren introduced this year`s National Day theme, our little ones discovered that being a hero isn`t about the uniform you wear, but the way you show up for others.
Partnerships like this are what make learning at MFS so meaningful, bringing real-world role models into our children`s everyday world to inspire, teach, and connect. Happy National Day from all of us at My First Skool! 🧡🇸🇬

Our annual Picture One Artwork! Showcase was a blast, where our children create pieces inspired by a National Collection artwork and share them proudly with family and friends recently.🖼️
But what you see at the showcase is just the final chapter, the real story starts weeks earlier at our centres, where our teachers guided our children through hands-on art experiences using recycled and loose-part materials. They learned to work together, communicate their ideas, and grow more confident in expressing who they are as they created their masterpieces.
This is what learning at My First Skool looks like, children discovering, creating, and growing through experiences that go beyond the classroom, supported by partnerships like our decade-long collaboration with National Gallery Singapore.
