Eunice believes in providing enriching and meaningful experiences for young children. She also strongly attests to the fact that the children’s emotional well-being is the glue that strengthens foundations for learning and development to flourish.

In striving for professional excellence, Eunice plays a significant role in nurturing values and dispositions of her pre-schoolers, and safeguards their emotional quotient through her programme planning. She designs intentional learning experiences that are stimulating and challenging. For instance, the children in her class engage in collaborative art projects and develop skills like cooperation, teamwork and building on each other’s strengths.

She believes that happy children make happy learners. For instance, when one of her pre-schoolers underwent a sudden drastic change in his behaviour, she took it upon herself to find out what was troubling him. More importantly, she did not give up on him – instead, together with his parents, she worked with the child for an entire year, until he managed to overcome his emotional struggles.

A warm and approachable teacher, Eunice designs teaching and learning experiences that are responsive and nurturing to enhance the children’s learning, development and well-being.

Ms Aishah Bte Sirajuddin
English Teacher
The Caterpillar’s Cove Child Development and Study Centre @ Jurong East

Even very young children can be empowered – this is Aishah’s belief. She embraces a vision of children as competent individuals who are curious about the environment and are motivated to explore and discover. These guiding principles are supported by child development theories and neuroscience.

Aishah encourages children to take charge of their own learning and to work collaboratively with their peers. She strongly believes that children need to be exposed to a range of experiences and designs a facilitative learning environment. For instance, the toddlers in her class are exposed to woodworking and work with various tools. Their experiences help them develop skills such as risk assessment and thoughtful decision-making, alongside problem-solving and communication.

She also understands the importance of play on young children’s brain and holistic development, and designs the learning environment to support. She welcomes parents as partners, and they are part of the children’s development.

The Singapore Pre-school Accreditation Framework (SPARK)

In our quest to ensure delivery of quality pre-school education, NTUC First Campus’ pre-schools are also proud to attain The Singapore Pre-school Accreditation Framework (SPARK) certification from Ms Low Yen Ling, the Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Education, at the ECDA Early Childhood Conference 2018.

A SPARK-certified pre-school is an endorsement of the holistic quality of the pre-school in the areas of leadership, planning and administration, staff management, resources, curriculum, pedagogy, and health, hygiene and safety. A pre-school certified with SPARK Commendation was recognised with even higher quality in teaching and learning practices.

Six of My First Skool pre-schools received the SPARK Commendation certification, out of a total of nine pre-schools nation-wide. Another 11 My First Skool and two The Little Skool-House pre-schools also received their SPARK Certification.
